it's the second day of happiness

which is what ava said to me last week when we had two days of sunshine in a row. something like a tiny sliver of sugar-covered yellow dangled in front of us, good enough to eat. nothing but rain and cold now. rain and cold, rain and cold. I am so desperate for summer that I would almost be okay to skip right over spring.

  3. ava is a wise one. dark days strung out one after another in spring is like a cruel joke that never ends. here's wishing for a bright one tomorrow.

  4. yes, sweet ava...i hear you. i live in CA where it's sunny pretty much all the time (even when freezing) and i STILL can't get my fill. sometimes i sit on my front porch all bundled up just so the sun can heat up my clothes (this takes a long time in the winter and early spring) and shine on my face. it charges me like i'm a battery. truly. if i could send you some sunshine in a box...i would.

  5. I am so with you. Bring on summer; at this point, I am willing to forgo spring entirely.

  6. Hi. Just sending a little note from snow-besieged Idaho. I just wanted to tell you that I dig your blog and read it regularly. It's my birthday today, and I made it my goal to do an homage to your "37 things to do before I turn 38."
Peace and sunshine to you! -Wendy

  7. Andrea,
I am so glad I'm not the only one who would get so excited about Alameda's Flea Market! But really, its worth all the fuss because its big and beautiful and even near the end of the afternoon there were still great finds!
I did end up walking into Rare Device and introducing myself to Lisa. She was really warm and friendly and I'm glad I didn't let my fear get the best of me.
Oh, if only we weren't moving the week before you all were headed this way!
I found a photo booth on Valencia at the 'Elbo Room'. We couldn't go in with our stroller but my husband did confirm that it was in fact there. Valencia St. has some fabulous shops and is quite near the Rare Device so I recommend that part of town.
sfgirlbybay.blogspot.com had a TON of great recommendations on her blog for shops and restaurants, etc.
I'm sure a good time will be had by all! (As long as you dress in layers)

  12. I completely feel you, but in the other direction. Here in Australia I am holding on to every last moment of autumn as we slip into winter. Lazing on the trampoline in the last setting sun, trimming trees like crazy to preserve the lowest angles of sun beam. Here's to summer...I'm passing the joy on to you :)
