free this past weekend: comic books, admission to the portland art museum
always free: long walks downtown, frozen yogurt samples, super moon viewings
full time freelance works means a good amount of personal freedom. it also means potentially long (and sometimes horrific) stretches between paychecks. we are right smack dab in the middle of one of those long, horrific stretches.
I'll tell you, the word free is a beautiful, beautiful word.
free things are the best! and so are your photos, so beautiful.
ReplyDeletefree things ARE best. (and thanks for the kind words) :)
Deleteyes. currently horrified, but keeping on. glad for free things, too.
ReplyDeleteoh lady, I feel your pain. I really really do. keep on keepin on. xo
DeleteI hear you! Love your capture of the Rothko painting. I'm a volunteer at the Portland Art Museum so I can admire art for free every week, which was one of the reasons I took on a shift.
ReplyDeleteah! what a great place to volunteer!
DeleteFree is always good! Love these little captured moments.
ReplyDeletehey thanks! xo
Deleteoh my yes friend. we live exactly the same way: feast or famine.
ReplyDeletefeast or famine, feast or famine. this is how it is with us. a hundred jobs all at once or nothing but the sound of crickets for weeks. it's the feast or famine of freelancing that we just can't quite get used to.
Deleteyes me too. here's something for free. :)
ReplyDeletethanks, friend. that made my day. my week. xo
Deletegreat photos. Hang in there :)
ReplyDeleteSome more free things....dancing ( spagetti night and dancing is my favorite thing to do when I'm super low on cash...it makes me feel better) ,skipping rocks, organizing your stuff- sometimes I find stuff I didn't know I had and that makes me feel super rich :)

brilliant, these suggestions. love them all. thank you. xo
DeleteOne of the happiest moments of my life was getting free burger samples from a food cart in Breckenridge, CO.
ReplyDeleteLovely celebration of free(dom?).
well, that sounds lovely. and like a bit of an interesting story. :)
DeleteBeautiful photos. I really enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love 'free'. I have been wandering different Portland neighborhoods with my camera. It's 'free', I get exercise and I come back with tons of wonderful photos.
hey, thanks! and thank goodness photo walks are still free. when I lived in atlanta, I used to hit up the fleamarket each month, even when I didn't have any money. I'd take my camera and shoot. found that almost satisfied me as much as shopping. :)
DeleteI've so been in the "free is the best price" world, Andrea. If you don't have a Clackamas County library card yet, you can get one (if you're in Multnomah County, at least), and take advantage of the Cultural Passes - free admission for a family to a variety of things such as the Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, Children's Museum, etc. Heck, the Multnomah library system might have them too (but they might be easier to get through Clackamas' system...). So many great free things to do in Portland, enjoy!
ReplyDeletewhat! I had no idea! that's awesome! we're multnomah co. so we should be able to get one. this is very exciting news! very very exciting. thanks so much for sharing, friend! xo
Deletewhich comics did the kids get????
ReplyDeleteoh man, I don't know! I know there was a whole table filled with comics that were made specifically to give out on free comic book day. ava showed me what she picked out. looked cool. :)
DeleteThank you for this free reminder,it seems like your having a fabulous feast of free-dom! and I love the cute little pink sandals leading the way to the next hug!! I'm sending you tons of virtual freebie hugs, oooo Michelle W www.MommysPinkieLipgloss.blogspot.com
ReplyDeletevirtual freebie hugs= always good. thank you. xo
DeleteI agree - Free = Beautiful. Especially when you have little ones to entertain. We're big fans of the library for that reason.
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm sure those rockin' sandals weren't free but OH MY gracious, are they cute.
xo
cortnie
what would we do without the library? best place ever. and those sandals? bought them at target last year on clearance! $7, I think? but they hurt my toes so I gave them to ava (we're wearing the same size shoe now (which blows my mind a little). :)
DeleteSo lovely <3
