  1. Thank you for sharing this.
I've never seen a train quite like it where all of the seats face the windows.

Is this because it's designated for long journeys, or a special carriage, or just the norm in your corner of the world?

  2. I think travel by train is fabulous too. These photos are wonderful - I'm particularly loving #'s 5&6.

also, my word verification is "stlinger," as in "St. Linger" which is what a train ride makes you want to do. Linger. ha!

  13. a:
what you said about the lady waving?
trains rumble by just on the other side of a chain-link fence at ander & zaza's school. whenever a "people train" passes, the entire schoolyard freezes (letting balls bounce away and jump-ropes go limp), turns to the tracks, WAVES, and screams "TRAIAIAIAIAIAIN!!!!"
***when you make it down here by train, we'll be waiting at the station with flowers and balloons and pinatas!***

  19. Oh how I love the train. Sigh. I bought a U.S. rail pass a few years ago and used it to go from DC to Halifax, Nova Scotia and then back down to Dallas, Texas. It was just an amazing journey.

  21. Why stop at LA? You can take it all the way to San Diego! At some point, it becomes the Surfliner and it is dreamy.
