for all the birthday wishes, I thank you. truth be told, I've been a little blue. it was, after all, my last birthday as a thirty something. I nearly cried over the title of the new list. 39 things to do before I turn 40. wow. I am staring down the barrel at forty. how is that possible? no really, how? typing out those last two numbers nearly killed me. but the new list, it's a good one. perhaps my best yet. and the red velvet cake, it was off the charts good. spectacular even. but the best part? the roller skating. definitely the roller skating.
they say 40 is the new 30 :)
ReplyDeletedon't cry - the best is yet to come!
ReplyDeleteAs I approached 40 my birthdays got a little depressing too. Now at 41 it's not so bad but geesh, leaving that decade behind was difficult! So I feel your pain. :)
ReplyDeletetrust me...you'll love being in your forties! Almost at the end and nearing 50 now...doesn't seem possible to me but with it has come so many miraculous things about myself...self-awareness, wisdom, honesty, confidence, excitement, and so much more. you really will enjoy it!
ReplyDeletemy mamma said her life began at 40. and she is the most awesome and beautiful human i know. xxx
ReplyDeletebtw, my cache for this was LIGHT . . .
happy belated birthday! i hope 39 is the best year yet for you and that you accomplish everything on your list.
ReplyDeletethose of us in our mid-to-late 30's need to remember that 40 doesn't mean what it used to! i remember in my teens and even my 20's thinking that my life would pretty much be over by 30! how insane is that? and yet all of the coolest shit happened to me after 30.
i'm sure the decade ahead will bring you tons of fantastic goodness that you can't even imagine!
:)
ReplyDeleteOh, honey, forty is lovely, truly.
ReplyDelete40s rock my friend. and I'm certain no one will rock them quite like you.
ReplyDeletei'm turning four-oh in 2010 too. we can do it. yes, we can. i think we can only get more awesome, right?
ReplyDeleteHula,
ReplyDeleteYou'll always be young and beautiful to us.
Marie
Oh man, I can't tell you how INCREDIBLE your 40s are gonna be. I am 44 and I lost 50 pounds, got an amazing job, fell deeper in love with my kids, stopped taking crap from a lot of people, set boundaries, gave myself permission to say a lot of "No", saw more of the world, etc., etc., etc.
ReplyDeleteDive in--it's awesome!!!
girl you make 39 look great. :) and i hear 40 is the new 30 anyway.
ReplyDeletehappy belated bday, andrea!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! All the best from Spain! Besos!
ReplyDeletehula, i am sorry to hear that you've been blue. sending you L-O-V-E.
ReplyDeleteI am 50. You are just a child.
ReplyDeleteYou are also very beautiful with your high cheekbones and ethnic looking face. So you are lucky. My sisters and my mom all died before their prime years.
I understand the sadness but you are blessed woman.
Now go out there and take some polaroids!
Happy Birthday, and look, you made it on GrainEdit. That's something! Besides, you make 39 look very very good.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry you
ve been blue, but I am sure that 39 will be just wonderful because that's the kind of girl you are. Thanks for making me smile on a day when I've been frowny.
Greta
Here is one thing that worked for me when facing a milestone birthday and feeling old. I would look at pictures of my mother at that same age and think how young she looked then. It kind of gives you a comparison or reference point.
ReplyDeleteForty can be fabulous. I've been there.
i'm late to the party, but lemme just share...that in about 15 years, you'll be thinking...ohmygod, i can't believe how YOUNG i was at 39. (trust me on this.) ;) hope it's a GREAT year...enjoy!
