loser of a big bit and unable to pay... moustache man was forced to don the hat and hold the hand of the winner so that he [winner] would always have blackmail material for future use! :)
all i know is that when i saw this photo come up and before i read any words, something in the men's eyes makes me want to cry. something gentle and naive maybe. i think the guy with the medicine bag is helping the sombrero hombre. maybe they are on a trip of some kind, going to find something one of them lost.
I think the man on the right is being taken in by the doctor's family...the good doctor has just picked him up from work,(maybe a cook, or a farrier--with that apron), he has his luggage...the doctor looks like he's introducing him to the person behind the camera...i like the action in his gesture...very welcoming, in my opinion!
okay ... indulge me here ... Does anyone remember the movie, Unstrung Heroes, with Andie MacDowell, Michael Richards, & Maury Chaykin? A little boy's mother gets sick and his dad is unable to care for him and he has to go live with his two crazy uncles. The two uncles are truly nutty, but they are so loveable and endearing. It truly is one of Michael Richards great roles. Anyway, the two folks in the picture remind me of them ... in a Hispanic sort of way ... but the faces, the smiles ... remind me of the two crazy uncles in Unstrung Heroes. See if this link works to the still from said movie with two crazy uncles in question: http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0114798/Ss/0114798/fcstil_0740a.jpg?path=gallery&path_key=0114798
Just cut and paste that bad boy. I wish I knew how to make it shorter. Sorry all you professional bloggers.

meridith-- I know just what you mean. something about the looks on their faces. makes you want to know them.
slim-- yes, I most certainly remember 'unstrung heroes'... I LOVE that movie... lovelovelove. yes, it's the oddball quality, so charming, so lovable... I can definitely see the connection.

ReplyDeleteThe world will never accept their love, I'm afraid. Now Antonio and Beauregard Mendoza have to live in exile, in Silver Lake, Michigan. Poor guys.
