for your thursday

I did not actually get to stay here. at the color hotel, aka the saguaro. but back in october, while I was teaching at oasis at the ace, I snuck down one morning and spent a few hours wandering the grounds. because I knew I'd need this dose of color in february, I just knew it. and if you are battling any variation of the cold grey forever, I bet you need it too.

    1. hey tina! didn't know about all that snow ahead of time but now I'm doubly glad I shared it. :) I mostly shot these with an old nikon 50mm 1.4 lens (originally made for old nikon film cameras). the glass is so gorgeous (and it's a lot cheaper than the new 50mm 1.4) :) I do remember shooting a bit with my wider lens-- 24mm 2.8 but can't remember if any of the shots here were done with that one..? hope that helps!

    1. they were sort of out of the way-- just to the left of the front entrance. I walked all around the exterior of the hotel before I wandered around inside, which is probably why I caught them! and pretty affordable, right? I'd planned to stay there the night before I was supposed to check in at the ace but my plans changed and I had to cancel. hoping I'll get the chance again one of these days... maybe with a certain couple of girls I know. *ahem, alix. jenny.

  17. Andrea, just spend the afternoon in NYC a couple of weeks back with the architect/designers of The Saguaro. Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat of www.stambergaferiatarchitecture. They are amazing. Their apartment is stunning! They were such delightful hosts. So nice to see the feature here on your blog!
