doorway in rome

it's ordinary to love the marvelous,
but marvelous to love the ordinary.

I have these words (scribbled in red crayon on a scrap of paper) tacked up in my work space. don't know who wrote it, can't even remember where I saw it, but I read it every single day.

  1. lovely....i need to read that more! Did you read Superhero Journal yesterday:

    Everything is perfect.
    You are doing enough.
You are exactly where you need to be.

Somehow in my mind, these are related!

  2. sometimes the simplest things are the most profound. thanks for reminding me of that - i'm going to try to think that way more often. cool photo.

  3. You have always had a gift for seeing beauty all around, and for making the simplest experience a circus. I really like that about you!

  4. Ward - what a great shot.

  5. good words. good good words.

  6. joy- yes, I did read superhero journal yesterday and I so loved those words... incredible photo of the flower she posted, too. superhero's quotes are constantly (CONSTANTLY) kicking my butt into action. I really love that about her blog...

nancila- I would not be half the person that I am today without all the love and support you have given me over the past 20 years (best friends for 20 years!)... seriously. thanks for always going along with all my craziness.

jan, meridith- so glad you enjoyed this. happy to reciprocate as your blogs so often inspire me...

  7. Dads don't get daughters like you very often... great words to apply to all areas of our lives...
