one question. one question a day. I could do that, I said. and I have now for the last two years. unbelievably, I have followed through. am seven days into year three. I do not always like the questions it asks. but that's probably a good thing, a really really good thing.
and then ava was curious so I gave her one for her birthday. she's even more committed to it than I am. can you imagine? how her book will read in five years? the difference in answers between ages twelve and seventeen? that's a book I'd like to read. she probably won't let me (and I won't even ask, really) but that would be a book to read.
so where was this book when I was twelve?
I am so intrigued by this book. What a cool thing and I love that your daughter is on it too!
ReplyDeleteWow, I admire how you, and your daughter, are able to do this(I'm the worst at keeping up with these sort of things).
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing this book and wondering if I should get it. I'm horrible about journaling daily, but if I have a journal that presents me with a new topic, maybe that would get to me start writing more.
ReplyDeleteit might be just the book for you-- it's such a small daily commitment. I think that's why it worked for me. :)
DeleteWhat a great journal idea! It will be so neat if she actually lets you read hers when she's 17!
ReplyDeletethis is so darn cool. me wants.

ReplyDeleteI have been really wanting to get back to journalling. This is the first I've heard of this book and it looks really cool! I might have to get one for myself.
ReplyDeleteHow inspiring and what a wonderful Mother, Daughter tradition :)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR :) T.
That's nice! I want to have that book! ;)
ReplyDeletewhat a great way to record + remember growth through the years... I'll have to remember this for Christmas 2013!
ReplyDeleteI started a 5-year diary when I was 12 and finished it when I left high school. I don't know where it is now and wish I had it to read. I started another 5-year journal-a-day last year and so far, have written in it every day. but I am much OLDER now.
ReplyDeleteI love it. Love that there are questions to answer (I'm good with prompts)! I just ordered mine from the local bookstore.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good idea, not too much of a challenge every day but quickly builds to a really interesting record

Love this idea so much I just bought one and wiped out the rest of my Amazon giftcard. Woot!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful idea!
ReplyDeleteI discovered this book some time ago and have just started year 2. I gave a copy to my 17 year old daughter (who loves to write) for her birthday last year. Completely agree that it will be amazing for her to see the changes in her responses from age 17 to age 21.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about journaling, this might be the one. On another note, I was reading my favorite online magazine, elephant journal and saw a familar picture of a beautiful family. I haven't seen you mention anything, so don't know if you know about it. Here's the link http://www.elephantjournal.com/2013/01/people-are-beautiful-photobooths-are-magic/

This book looks great. I used to write diaries every single day when i was a kid but don't anymore. May have to get me a copy :)
ReplyDeleteOh yay! I ordered this and I can't wait to start it. I think it's going to be a fun journey. :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I'm looking that beauty up and I would like to read that book too. Maybe that's a blockbuster in the making. Happy new year to you. 2013 i think may just have a little magic for you. Don't stop smiling. xo
ReplyDeleteI love this book! I've been fairly faithful since April, until November hit, when I got behind. Maybe I'll try to catch up???
