flower power

my great aunt louraine saved everything. rolls and rolls of these vintage wrapping papers (circa 1960s? 1970s?) were found in her basement last week and I fell in love with them. there were also polka dots, butterflies and tripped-out bridal shower and birthday patterns. I think that we are going to be very happy together, me and my new papers.

  1. Man, those colors. My eyes! My eyes! I do have to say what amazing finds you got there, especially the others that aren't even shown. Some great paper Auntie had.

  3. carlene, thank you so much... your encouragement always refreshes my spirit.

jan, my first thought is to use them for collage. they will probably also be used to make cards (which I occasionally do) and wrap very special gifts. I have a TON of this stuff, but I am still planning on conserving it as much as possible.

ward, the brightness of these patterns does kind of hurt my eyes. but in a good way, of course.

  5. oh i love this! my grandmother had some old wrapping paper from the 60's and i have it stashed away for some special purpose someday. i wasted one bit of it on a card for a guy i was dating once and he did NOT appreciate it the way these treasures should be appreciated. i love that you appreciate things like this!!

  6. blogdrea, I got excited (not in a good way) when I saw those papers. I thought maybe they were wallpapers, in which case I was going to call home to get some representation, so maybe I could stick my pointy nose in the taylorville situation, and get some for myself. Me and soandso really want to paste similarly patterned wallpaper on single small wall somewhere in her place. Id rather mine, but you know the dill.

  7. johnny, they were on the verge of THROWING THE STUFF OUT. these papers would be divine on a wall, though they're pretty brittle (obviously from living their best pulpy years in a dank cellar). I'm sure auntie had big plans for all this paper goodness.

representation can be had. ask and ye shall receive.
