ready for a road trip, so ready. I cannot adequately express how ready I am. to throw some junk in a bag and slide into the passenger seat of the car. to prop bare feet up on the dashboard and dangle hands out of a rolled-down window. to fly down the highway, slurpee in hand, eyes on a wide open horizon. I don't even really care where we go. just so long as we go. just so long as we're properly able to switch up our geography. I'm ready.
You make it sound so appealing and I am a home body thru and thru.
ReplyDeleteLast night, I took my first summer-night ride in the passenger seat of my best friend's Volkswagon convertible, and it never ceases to be one of my favorite places to be. I hope you find a dashboard to put your feet up on soon--I could use a roadtrip as well.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, yes, me, too! nice capture of a classic sign--we have that one in our collection as well. :)
ReplyDelete*sigh* me too, all day i have been daydreaming with riding to places with strange names and eating apple pie on the counter of small roadside restaurants... my cameras are so ready.
ReplyDeleteWell said!
ReplyDeleteAlmost two years ago I took a road trip, by myself, up through Portland and the Oregon coast to Seattle. So beautiful. Best.Trip.Ever.
ReplyDeleteamen, sister. I consider vacations/road trips to be very important reset buttons for us. Freedom, new perspectives, a deep breath of fresh air. And life at home is always sparklier when you get back.

ReplyDeleteThat's some of the most beautiful writing I've read all day.
ReplyDeleteI had this same thought the other day-- driving along the ocean, listening to Vacation by the GoGo's at that magical hour when the sun is so pretty. I didn't want it to end by arriving at my destination and since then all I can think about is taking a roadtrip.

ReplyDeleteYou took the words right of my mouth! That's exactly how I feel the past couple of weeks. My last holiday (a road trip along the Australian east coast *sigh*) was two years ago... I keep my fingers crossed for you that it won't take too long until you can hop into the car :-)
