let's have a party
because hey, I got a new camera. unfortunately, now the old camera looks at me accusingly, like I have performed the ultimate betrayal. okay yes, I do feel a little guilty. I had to put her in the back of the closet because I couldn't take the way she was looking at me, all hurt and sad-like. funny thing is, I've had the new camera for over a month now. so perfect and pretty and with that new camera smell too. I wasn't able to do anything more than occasionally take her out of the box. but only to feel the weight of her in my hands, to look through the lens to see what I could see. I think maybe I was a little scared of her and her fancy ways. I finally confessed my secret to hannah because she pines for pretty new cameras just like I do. she understands. hannah, I finally broke through to the other side. it's nice over here, just like you said it would be. the stripey leg shot is next, I promise. hey, let's have a little bake sale and buy you a pretty new camera too.
My wife has a Nikon D-50... a nice camera, but they're prone to this weird error "CHA" which can mean your memory card reader spontaneously went belly-up. We had a hell of a time getting hers fixed, even under warranty-- but after three tries, they got it right. BE SURE you get the warranty. A quick search for "CHA" and "NIKON" will net you a ton of users fuming about this...
ReplyDeleteI got that exact same camera about a month ago, too! I love it. Can't wait to see your shots.
ReplyDeleteoh yay! i love my nikon. i was just like you when i first got it though. i was scared to take it out of the box, the house, etc. now, i'm taking it on hikes. :) enjoy! xo
ReplyDeleteit took me 5 months after i got my nikon d-70. for 5 months it sat in the box. i guess the time just has to be right. right?
ReplyDeletecongratulations!
I find it interesting that your camera is a girl. *grin*
ReplyDeleteMy D50 and I congratulate you on your new baby! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with the D40.
ReplyDeletecongratulations!!! it is so hard to pick up something new. you think that you'll never know it as well as the one you're letting go. i bet in a month it will feel like you've always had it. i'll get one someday... :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a random comment but I wanted to tell you that I am an artist and my name is Andrea and I have been married to my husband Ward for 13 years! I got a kick out of these similarities as I took a look around your blog :)
ReplyDeleteyou GOT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewoo-hoo! congrats on the new camera! but i do know how you feel about the old camera...i felt the same way about my powershot and i finally had to give it to a young budding photographer so i wouldn't have to see it's acussing glances anymore...
ReplyDeletecameras I have known and loved...
ReplyDeleteI take my time with new cameras, too. don't know why. when I see my husband hanging off wet rocks to get a great shot or some such thing, I realize that I'd better learn how to use it before we're on to another one
actually- we've never broken any in the line of duty, but have had two stolen
ah, i am so proud of you. all little girl growing up and stuff. and lets admit it, also very jealous. please take some gorgeous picture to make me feel better(worse) as soon as possible!
