eight things
the meme gods, they are begging me do this. they are waving their arms in the air and jumping up and down, trying to get my attention. they know I love a good meme, they know I am weak and cannot resist. also, I have been tagged by so many marvelous women to do this (first meridith, then mati then christina, then kirsten michelle and finally, jennifer). since I don't really believe in meme gods, I am doing this for the girls. but also because I can't stop with all the memes.
eight random things about me:
1. I am an extraordinary parallel parker. I mean it, I nail it pretty much every single time. I don't mean to brag, it's just something I can do. 'tis a thing of beauty, dear friends.
2. I don't like to go grocery shopping. I really REALLY don't like grocery shopping. I don't know why I feel this way. I love to shop for just about everything else (and thoroughly enjoy my weekly trips to the local farmer's market). for some reason, grocery shopping makes me want to lay down and cry like a little baby. I often wait until there's nothing in the pantry but half-opened packets of onion soup mix and taco seasoning before I finally admit defeat and cobble together a list. I am tormented by label-reading and price-comparing and what to make for dinner. sometimes I race through the store like a game show participant. just to see how fast I can get it all over with, just to make it more interesting. other shoppers do not appreciate this, I have discovered. but I do what I have to do to get it over with and I make no apologies. unless of course I take out a shopper or two in the process.
3. horribly guilty pleasures: gawker stalker, spongebob and pixie sticks.
4. I have never been camping. not because I don't want to or don't like it-- it's just something I've never really done. but I'd like to. at least I think I'd like to. actually, I'm quite taken with the idea of spending the night in a yurt. I'd never heard of yurts until I moved out here. don't you love that word? I do. I love the word almost as much as the idea of staying in one (maybe more). would sleeping in a yurt even count as camping? probably not, but I don't care.
5. I think I've mentioned this before but when I was eight, I had a lisp and had to go to speech therapy. I met my first boyfriend there. his name was dustin javorski and he couldn't pronounce his r's. we were impossibly cute together.
6. I love milk. but only skim and with a ridiculous amount of ice.
7. I think I would've liked to have been an art teacher.
8. I almost married my high school sweetheart. and then I met ward.
having problems with grocery shopping? read 'i am the cheese'. it's not exactly a great read but grocery shopping finds it's way into the written word. can you grocery shop online? ox:)
ReplyDeletei love your lists. and i've never ever put ice in a cup of milk!
ReplyDeletesleeping in a yert absolutly counts as camping. They are so camp like and think of the photo opportunities.
ReplyDeleteHi i am tania and i have been lurking. luv your photos - very inspiring. I even have you as a sidebar on my blog under "i'm inspired by" so thank you
love the list ;-)
ReplyDeletei can't parallel park to save my life.
i'm with you on the grocery shopping. totally. i'm getting worse. the other day i went out for groceries and bought all of this delicious food and made this marvelous spread for lunch...then at 4pm i said to my husband...goodness knows what we're going to have for dinner...and he's like didn't you pick up dinner stuff while you were at the store...and i'm like...no, i couldn't think that far ahead.
yurts are cute...definitely NOT camping but cute...i know this because i don't like to camp...and i would sleep in one.
and for the record...i think you'd have made an extraordinary art teacher!!!
thanks so much for playing...
happy wednesday to you!!!
If you really are an extraordinary parallel parker, then it's not too late to be an art teacher! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGo Spongebob!
i love ice in my milk too. i can only drink ice cold milk. my husband laughs & rolls his eyes when i drop an ice cube in my cereal.
ReplyDeletea. that photo is jaw-droppingly gorgeous
ReplyDeleteb. i have to admit curiousity about the clearly long and juicy story described by #8, but clearly, it's not my business. +)
My husband loves spongebob and is a great parallel parker too. I really appreciate these qualities... :)
ReplyDeleteI hate grocery shopping too. I also despise mopping the floor.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of flowers are those?! I LOVE them!!
ReplyDeleteI love tidbits about you Andrea, and this photo is gorgeous. I loathe grocery shopping and am lucky to be married to a man that likes it. He goes for our family each week and I am so very grateful.
ReplyDeleteMilk with ice? YES!
ReplyDelete#1 thank you for playing along :) i heart memes
ReplyDelete#2 i want to hear the story behind #8!
#3 i never heard of gawker before this post and just spent about 45 sidetracked there
#4 i hate grocery shopping too and have no reasonable answer as to why since i love to shop.
Not liking groccery shopping?? Oh honey, I wish I had that problem. I go everyday, and buy only enough to tied us over till the next day.
ReplyDeleteare there any photos of you and dustin?
ReplyDeletei love this list... i am insanely jealous of your parking skills i grew up on a farm so i never had to parallel park so imagine my horror when i moved to the city...i would con boys into parking my car for me, or i would find the biggest space possible...it was embarrassing. I'm only slightly better so I avoid driving! I can relate to #7 & #8 though ;)
ReplyDeletei always thought something was seriously wrong with me because i consistently put grocery shopping off to the last possible moment (do i not care about my family?). nice to know there are more of us out there...
ReplyDeleteI will drive in circles for hours to avoid parallel parking. It just isn't natural.
ReplyDeleteSafeway isn't my favorite store but in big towns you can order your groceries online and they will deliver them. It doesn't work for the town I live in now (moscow ID) but I sometimes send them to my son who is going to college near Sacramento.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you know about this link, but it's pretty interesting. I enjoy your photo booth photos and thought of you when I happened onto this site.

genius - i love ice in my milk!
ReplyDeleteI've eaten unsalted goat meat and sang songs with Chinese Yuighurs in a Yurt before. Then we rode horses up a hillside and pretended we weren't ridiculously American.
ReplyDeleteI hate grocery shopping, too, and now I feel validated.
i think i'd have to say that is the best eight things list i have seen yet. i wish you could put stuff like parallel parking on your resume. that'd be good.
ReplyDeleteHello mam,
ReplyDeleteyou have a wonderful blog,
can we exchange links??
i think we could have a competition in the parallel parking category!
ReplyDeleteI love a blogger who can write a good meme list. Bravo (and I was right there with you in speech therapy).
