yes I am a girlie girl. I'm not afraid to say it. there's no shame in my game here because there seems to be some balance. yes to pink and red, to glittery, sparkly things but also yes to getting dirty, to swimming in my own sweat. yes to sexy kitten heels and fab wedges but also yes to crusty old (beloved) shelltoe adidas sneaks. yes to smelling nice (like lemons and roses and sugar, please) but also yes to knowing that you are occasionally going to smell bad and then, you know, being okay with that. yes to curves for days and lovely skin and endless softness but also yes to power and muscle and strength beneath those curves.
yes, I say.

i love this shot, the colors, the contrasts. especially loving that open toe shoe and the stripes. loving your words too.....it's so good to just own the girly girl aspects and live them up but also so nice to have that balance that keeps you real and diverse.
ReplyDeletesigh....i love shoes....
yes! yes! yes!
ReplyDeletemy sentiments exactly.... i LOVE the photo. those socks... the shoes... all of it!
you so rock!
Amen sister!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic photo! And you truly have a way with words. Fun post!
ReplyDeletehello ladies and thank you!
ReplyDeletemeridith, I got those shoes at target! couldn't resist the peekaboo toe. and lisa, the pink striped socks are from the thrift store (originally bought for ava but I have reclaimed them)...!
Is it wrong that this photo reminds me of the Wicked Witch of the East's feet sticking out from under the house that fell on her? Of course YOU are not a wicked witch and your socks and shoes ensemble are glamorous, not vile. So maybe it's nothing like the Wicked Witch. Maybe I should keep my observations to myself.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS.
teeheehee... no, it is not wrong because ward said the same thing. I was actually going to use another photo here where I was wearing bright red flats with the pink striped socks (it's on flickr) and that one REALLY reminds me of the wizard of oz... so, must be a subconscious theme. or something.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your observations so keep em coming!
love your self portrait!
ReplyDeletemy love for stripey socks lives on...
Has anyone read Wicked by Gregory Maguire? I think it ties in perfectly with the blog today. I say yes! to your blog post today. It was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI just wish that I could look as good as you, dear Andrea, in those black open toe shoes with the red and pink striped socks.
ReplyDeleteAlthough who's to say that I haven't tried them on already....?
Umm, just kidding.
Really, you look cute in these shoes and I love the photo. OF COURSE!
yes to girlie things! LOVE this shot - the saturation - the pinks against the green greens! you are also so right about balance in this!
ReplyDeleteI havent seen those shoes yet! Very cute! And I love the outdoor shots you have taken recently. All are very nice!
ReplyDeleteO.K., I didn't comment because all I could think of was the witch under the house. And though this shot of your feet is absolutely beautiful I couldn't figure out how to discuss you as a beauty with the feet of a witch. So, thanks everyone for getting it out in the open. But by the way, great shoes!
ReplyDeleteandrea. you rock so much!
