I love letters, I love words. I love that letters make up words and words make up sentences that then go onto bigger and better things like ideas and paragraphs and entire books. not to get all schoolhouse rock here (why not?) but it's the truth. words I have been loving:
phosphorescent, cerebral, luminous, exuberant, cheeky, brilliant, lush, mambo, vinyl, electric, kinesthetic, vintage, shrill, reciprocity, bohemian, vernacular, ishkabibble.
I like the way they sound coming out of my mouth (and often find myself saying them at random times). I love the way they look, sometimes I dig the meanings. if I could find a way to work them into every conversation, every written piece, I would. (okay, ishkabibble isn't really a word, just something I've been calling ezra lately. it's a delight to pronounce, really. you should try it).
I like words too. As a matter of fact, I often use them when I'm writing things down... like grocery lists. The words I'm really digging right now are:
ReplyDeleteBLARGH!
BLAGH!
BLAH!
melon
crumb
moog
ham sandwich
... when compared to your list, my list just looks sad.
wow, I like moog. moog is good. what is moog? something tells me you wrote this while you were eating... or you were hungry.
ReplyDeleteishkabibble! (ha) great word! what is it about being around kids that makes one make up crazy words just to get a laugh?
ReplyDeleteone of my most favorite words in the world is "mountain" in french...."montagne" love the sound - mon•TAGN. (especially when a person from france says it).
yes, my kids make me talk so silly. sometimes they're just so cute that you have to make up a word to match the cuteness.
ReplyDeleteyes, montagne... it rolls right off the tongue. it's lovely.
A Moog is a type of synthesizer, invented by Robert Moog, who was recently in the news due to his passing. Though I've never played a Moog, I've always enjoyed the name.
ReplyDelete... and yes, I was eating lunch when I posted. You're good.
