today: shots and outtakes from the vintage camera piece I did for issue 12 of uppercase magazine. I'm telling you right now, I did not know how many cameras I actually had until I pulled them all from their hiding places for this piece. I did not know. but now I do.
can you believe I've never actually counted them? because I think maybe there are more. somewhere. and I can't vouch for all of them but most of the polaroids are in working order as is the canon ftB and both yashicas. haven't gotten around to testing them all out... but one of these days!
yes, a lot of them are working! the polaroids and the canon ftB and the two yashicas. haven't had the chance to test them all, though. but I sure do want to. :)
I love the mint-green Savoy. But I also love those kind of horizontal Imperial Reflexes. There's a baby-blue Imperial in there, too, that's really fun.
I just love the blue and green ones. I think because I'm so used to black cameras. it's refreshing. now if i could just find myself a red camera, I'd be set. :)
hey thanks, everyone! supah fun to share the collection with you all.
julia and jenny-- can you believe I have never counted? the truth is that I think I have even more in the garage somewhere. I know, I know. shameful. and julia-- a good majority of them are working. though I have only really played around with the polaroids, the canon, the yashica and the TLRs. I'd venture to guess most of them are still working. just need to figure out how to respool 120 film to fit. it's on my list. :)
Oh, how I love each and every one of these. I have a Kodak camera like yours with the little accordion-type fold-out lens (so NOT the right term, I know) and I took it to a photo specialty shop where they attached 120 film to the original spool. I was so excited to see the results but unfortunately the film was exposed to light leaks and none of the images were decipherable. I'm going to give it another go sometime soon though.
oh I have always wanted to have 620 film respooled to fit 120! I have always wanted to try that! definitely give it another go! and let me know how it turns out! xo
believe it or not, I've never really counted them all. I should, shouldn't I? I'd love to use them all but right now I really only shoot with the polaroids, the canon FTb and the yashicas. but I'll get around to those other ones!
you have just inspired me to pull out allllll of our old cameras, while they sit pretty in a big old medicine case, i wonder how many gems sit behind others. they each deserve their day in the sun!
And I thought I had a camera problem!I only have half a dozen or so!
ReplyDeleteit's definitely a problem. possibly a little out of hand. ;)
