the boxes have been
packed and the truck has been loaded. some guy named dave is already on his way out west with all our stuff. tomorrow, we leave for
portland. seven days of driving ahead of us-- seven. whole. days. or maybe more, we've never done this before so we don't really know. and that is the best part of all this: the not knowing, the closing of the eyes and the leaping. tennessee, kentucky, illinois, missouri, kansas, colorado, wyoming, utah, idaho, oregon: here we come.
see you on the other side, friends.
wish you all a very pleasant ride!! :)

ReplyDeleteI came back since you and Katie provided Modern Musings her first meme soundtrack for life. I hope your move is smooth and it brings forth brighter horizons for you and your family. My family is back in Boston and we are in Las Vegas so I know how tough it is to leave family.
ReplyDeleteThank God for the Internet.
All the best
Your photo captured it all perfectly.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is driving from Rhode Island to greater Atlanta this week for her big, exciting move!
We drove from Seattle to Massachusetts several years ago. It was a goal oriented trip, not a vacation. But we still enjoyed it and all the memories.
Have a safe journey, enjoy and be well!

Just made a similar trek to Portland... Maine. But a transition is a transition... never easy, and always brimming with anxiety! Been reading (and enjoying!) your blog on and off for a while, especially when down in Atlanta teaching last month. I've a version of Leg Rodeo that's more like "body forklift". My son loves both! Look up Kyle MacLowry in Portland, OR. Great drummer and a better person, to boot.
ReplyDeletePortland is fabulous! You are coming at the most perfect time. Spring and soon Summer will bring everyone outdoors. I love love love it here!
ReplyDeletewelcome to the coast! i am happy to see you are already documenting your new place and i can't wait to see more. and i really can't wait to get the chance to meet you and your beautiful family! congratulations on the change.
